Becca's Art Work

Hello. My name is Becca Vershbow. I'm an artist and an art educator living in San Francisco. Thank you for visiting my website! Below are images of my paintings, in addition to images of my hand-painted glassware and greeting cards. Click on each link to explore my work.

If you like what you see and might want to buy, or email me at "". I look forward to hearing from you!

WesArt016

I graduated in Spring '06 from Wesleyan University with a BA in studio art. Much of my senior year was dedicated to my thesis, which culminated in my biggest show to date. The style has its roots in an East Asian painting process called sumi-e, which I studied intimately in the semesters leading up to my senior year. All work is done with ink on rice paper, tied together with a thin string. The style and process is a combination of this East Asian style and other, more personal ways of seeing and painting. Click on the box to the left to see an example, or click THESIS to view more photos of this installation. A few individual panels from this show remain available for purchase; you can click PANELS SALES to see the work and prices.

Since Wesleyan, I have continued working in a similar style but am pushing the materials by working with new subject matter and adding in new media. This is a process that I am still playing and experimenting with. You can access some of my newest work by clicking INK PAINTINGS to see photos and prices.

I have recently started experimenting with new media as well. Although I avoided oil for a while (I'm not sure why) I have found a sort of love for it and have made my first several oil paintings in the form of portraits. You can view these my clicking on PORTRAITS SALES. While these pieces are for sale, I am also always happy to paint a custom portrait of you or someone in your life. Just to "" and explain any vision you have for the piece, and I can custom paint it for you in a few days.

As an artist, I constantly fluctuate between creating fine art and wanting to make art that people can hold and use and easily afford. For years, I have been selling or gifting glassware that is decorated with my own designs. You can order any sort of glass (vases, candleholders, platters, etc.) with any design in any color, or sift through the pieces that I have lying around. Click on PAINTED GLASSWARE SALES to see some examples. NOTE: I do not blow my own glass (although that's definitely a process I'd like to learn). Most of the glass is reused, the idea being to bring new life to glass that would otherwise be wasted. You could also bring your own glass for me to paint on (for a lower cost!).

notecard

My cards are another way to make art that can be used and held and very affordable. Each notecard is hand-painted and unique. You can view a selection by clicking NOTECARDS. to have me make a special set for you.
